The 2026 FIA TCR World Tour kicked off on May 10 at the Misano World Circuit in Italy, with Chinese driver Ma Qinghua taking the win behind the wheel of a Geely Xingrui TCR car.
In the first race on May 9, Ma finished eighth after a poor start. However, in the second race on May 10, starting from third, he quickly moved up to second and pressured the leader. On lap six, he made a decisive overtake at Turn 10, building a lead and crossing the finish line nearly one second ahead. This marked the first victory for the Xingrui TCR in world competition and Ma’s first TCR World Tour win since the 2024 round in Zhuzhou, Hunan.
“This is an unforgettable moment—winning a world race in a Chinese car,” Ma said after the race.
The FIA TCR World Tour is the pinnacle of touring car racing, featuring top drivers from around the globe. Ma’s win is a significant breakthrough. “This is a historic moment—a Chinese driver and a brand-new Geely Xingrui TCR claiming victory in the season opener. It’s a proud achievement for the Chinese auto industry. We will continue to compete on the world stage and make Chinese speed shine,” said Chen Jun, Geely’s motorsport director.
The victory also drew attention from across China, with singer Richie Jen posting a photo with Ma and congratulating him: “Congrats on the championship! So proud of you! Hope next time I can be there at the finish line cheering you on.”
