Real Madrid suffered a defeat at the hands of Hapoel Tel Aviv in Game 3 of their EuroLeague quarterfinal series, and the Israeli club’s president wasted no time in rubbing it in.
“Checking out before the game is not a good idea.” That was the message posted by Ofer Yannay, alongside a photo of Real Madrid players in the hotel lobby — where they had to remain after the first matchup in Tel Aviv.
Sergio Scariolo’s squad traveled to Israel holding a commanding 2-0 series lead after two wins in Madrid. However, they failed to deliver a strong performance in Game 3, allowing Hapoel to claim their first victory of the series.
Now, the fourth game is set for Thursday. A win would send Real Madrid to the Final Four. Another loss would force a decisive fifth game, back at the Movistar Arena.
