AVS head coach João Henriques has voiced his optimism regarding the potential transfer of midfielder Pedro Lima to Sporting, praising the player’s quality and character.
Speaking at the press conference at the Estádio do Desportivo das Aves after his team’s impressive 3-1 victory over national champions FC Porto, Henriques was asked about the rumors linking Lima to the Lisbon club. He responded: “He is one of the players in this squad with the pedigree to take on a challenge of that level. We don’t know the full details of this rumor, but I would be happy if it came true. Beyond being a player for that level, he is an extraordinary young man who recognizes the weekly work and the importance of the group. He has started scoring goals and contributing to goals with the opportunities he has been getting recently. I hope it becomes a reality.”
Henriques also highlighted that Lima is not the only player on his team attracting attention: “He is one of the players we talk about, but there will be others. Roni scored two goals today; he is one of the players we believe will be coveted, just like the center-backs who were imperial today. I could almost talk about the whole team today.”
